Company Releases COVID-19 Policy

CHARLOTTE, NC – March 16, 2020 – Compass Precision, in partnership with its operating companies, Advanced Machining & Tooling, Quality Products & Machine, and Tri-Tec Industries, announced Monday its preventative measures to proactively manage potential health and business risks against COVID-19 (Coronavirus).

Through its preventative measures, Compass Precision has released a new policy which places a strong emphasis on digital communication, sanitation and precautionary health coverage with the intent of lowering the health risk of the company’s employees, customers and vendors.

“COVID-19 represents the ultimate 21st Century challenge to the health and livelihood of mankind,” expressed Gary Holcomb, President & CEO of Compass. “We are treating the Coronavirus threat with utmost precaution and safeguards. All three of our North Carolina manufacturing facilities remain open, as is common in our state’s manufacturing sector. But we are consistently monitoring the pandemic status and will adjust accordingly.”

While Compass Precision remains fully operational, all of its operating companies have implemented sanitary wipe downs of high-trafficked areas such as breakrooms, bathrooms and office areas. The company has also prioritized digital communication, canceling all face-to-face meetings with customers and vendors. Compass Precision is providing digital updates whenever possible.

In the event that an employee feels sick, Compass Precision is insisting he or she stay home. The company is working with its group health insurance carrier to amend plan coverages to waive deductibles and copays for COVID-19 testing. Assuming standard quarantine protocols are followed, Compass Precision is also offering income coverage (up to 10 business days or 80 hours, whichever is less) for lost time due to a COVID-19 diagnosis or potential unwillful exposure to the virus. After that usage, employees can apply for short-term disability benefits, assuming employees selected such coverage.

Compass Precision is not offering compensation for employees entering self quarantine who do not exhibit symptoms, but again, employees who do not feel well for any reason, COVID-19 related or otherwise, are highly encouraged to stay home. The company also strongly recommends its entire staff to wash hands several times per day, refrain from making physical contact with any other individuals and to follow other CDC and WHO guidelines.

Through these actions, Compass Precision hopes to achieve two objectives. First, the company wishes to keep its employees, customers, and vendors, and thus all of their families, safe during this concerning time. The company also wishes to do its part to prevent any further spread of COVID-19 in the United States, especially to North and South Carolina communities.

Secondly, after attaining the first objective, Compass Precision would like to minimize any operational disruption and continue serving its valued customers during this troubling period.

Compass Precision was formed in October 2019 upon the simultaneous acquisition of Tri-Tec Industries, LLC and Quality Products & Machine, LLC, both located in Charlotte, NC, as well as Advanced Machining & Tooling, LLC in nearby Salisbury, NC. The firm specializes in low-to-mid volume requirements, including prototypes, and serves numerous fast-growing markets including aerospace & defense, power generation, medical, telecommunication and industrial automation. Compass differentiates itself through its ability to handle complicated geometries and difficult materials, offer many processes within one organization, and seamlessly serve customers from part definition to order shipped complete.
