Company Promotes Jeff Geoghan

SALISBURY, NC – November 26, 2019 – Advanced Machining & Tooling, LLC, a leading manufacturer of precision metal components, with capabilities including both EDM and CNC machining, announced Tuesday that it has promoted Jeff Geoghan to Quality Manager effective immediately.

“In the three years since he joined us, Jeff has made significant contributions in both machining and inspection,” said Keith Felts, Advanced Machining’s President. “He learns quickly, has plenty of relevant experience, and now gets the opportunity to oversee our entire quality function. This is a key position, especially with the importance of us maintaining our ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100D certifications.”

Jeff started at Advanced Machining in 2016 as a machinist and was promoted to Chief Inspector in 2018 before being named Quality Manager. He previously worked for ECS Enterprises as a machinist, quality manager, shop foreman, and lead for their 3D printing operations.

“I really enjoy working with Jeff,” said Paul Lutz, who himself was recently promoted to EDM and Maintenance Specialist. “Both of us have experience at Advanced working in machining and quality. Our company believes strongly in the benefits of cross training. Jeff and I are examples of this.”

“Promoting Jeff to Quality Manager is another example of us strengthening our team,” added Pat Reynolds, Advanced Machining’s Operations Manager. “Jeff has been a quality manager before, plus he really understands CNC machining. I am very happy for him and for us.”

Advanced Machining operates from a 10,000-square-foot facility in Salisbury, NC at 215 Forbes Avenue. It manufactures complex prototype and low-to-mid volume metal parts, focusing on blue chip customers in the telecommunications, medical, aerospace and defense markets. Felts and his partner Bobby Miller founded Advanced Machining in 1985. ZP Enterprises, LLC, an Atlanta-based firm, acquired majority interest in the company in 2011.

In October 2019, Main Street Capital Partners, a Pittsburgh-based private equity firm, acquired Advanced Machining, along with its sister operating companies, Quality Products & Machine, LLC and Tri-Tec Industries Inc., both in Charlotte, NC, from ZP Enterprises. Main Street established Compass Precision, LLC at that time as the parent company of Quality, Advanced and Tri-Tec with an emphasis on strong decentralized management at each individual operating company.
