Reduce Supply Chain Risk with Specialized Expertise
One of the first questions customers ask is how we decide which of Compass Precision’s manufacturing facilities will produce their parts.
With 11 facilities across our network, customers want to understand how work gets assigned and what that means for their program.
The answer is: We evaluate each opportunity and determine which company is best positioned to support the program today and as it evolves over time.
Most importantly, customers don’t have to navigate that complexity themselves.
By evaluating programs through a network lens, including capacity, future growth expectations, and opportunities for redundancy, we help customers reduce supplier risk. This approach builds more resilient supply chains, and positions programs for long-term success.
Whether demand increases unexpectedly, a new process is required, or production needs shift over time, access to a diversified group of facilities provides additional flexibility and continuity.
When a new RFQ comes in, we look at several factors:
- Technical complexity and manufacturing requirements
- Quality and compliance needs
- Opportunities to leverage additional capabilities across the Compass Precision network determined by “best fit.”
- State of program (NPI, prototype, volumes) and growth expectations
- Specific capability and capacity availability
- Supply chain and delivery considerations
Our goal is to identify the operating company that gives your program the greatest likelihood of short-term and ultimately long-term success.
For example, if your program involves complex aerospace, defense or space components requiring advanced 5-axis machining, mill/turn, horizontal multi-pallet capabilities, and AS9100D-certified processes, we may align the work with Accu-Tool, Advanced Machining, Gray Manufacturing, R&D Machine or Strom Manufacturing.
If you’re sourcing cast or forged parts that require detailed precision ground surfaces and finishes, we may connect your project to Trutron. Or if small, tight-tolerance components with difficult material and demanding finish requirements, Bergeron Machine may be the strongest fit because of its Swiss machining expertise and experience producing precision components at scale.
If you’re looking for a partner capable of supporting larger fabricated assemblies that combine machining, laser cutting, welding, assembly, and passivation Quality Products may provide the best overall fit because those capabilities are integrated within a single facility.
For many customers, the conversation isn’t just about who can make the part today. It’s about who can support the program into the future and scale seamlessly as the program evolves. As part of our evaluation process, we consider long-term capacity (CAPEX investments), growth expectations, and opportunities to create redundancy within the network.
Every program is different, but the process remains the same: match the work to the operating company best equipped to execute it successfully.
What does that mean for you?
You gain access to specialized expertise aligned to your requirements, additional capacity as demand changes, and a broader manufacturing network that can adapt as your program grows.
In many cases, multiple facilities may work together to support your needs throughout the life of a project, giving you access to complementary capabilities.
You initially work with the Compass Precision sales team who serve as your primary point of contact from the RFQ and quoting process to onboarding with the appropriate company. Behind the scenes, our team coordinates resources across the network, allowing you to benefit from the breadth of our platform while maintaining a simple, consistent experience. Eventually, you willhave a direct relationship with key individuals inside the company that will be building your parts. This allows for ease of communication throughout the manufacturing process and beyond.
