2022 First Half EOM Honorees Then and Now

Compass Precision has a high standard for its employees. When that high standard is met and even surpassed, Compass awards its people.

One of the ways the company does that is with its Employee of the Month program. The honor goes to one very-deserving candidate every month. That candidate receives a published story on the company’s website and social media.

Including Richard Scouten of R&D Machine, named as Compass’s Employee of the Month for August a week ago, the company has recognized 53 employees for this honor since the program began in March 2020.

The very first Employee of the Month was Al Farrar of Quality Products & Machine.

Although the Employee of the Month honor is tremendous, Compass’ employees don’t stop producing after receiving their nomination. In several ways, it’s just a road sign along the long journey for the company’s best people.

Previous articles have looked back at EOM award winners from 2020 and 2021. Let’s now reflect upon what has happened with the recipients of this honor from the first six months of 2022:

Jason Kalmes – January

Since his Employee of the Month honor, Jason (above photo, upper left) has stepped up to become an even more intricate part of the staff at Douglas Machining. Jason works on complicated setups and parts, and has begun learning new processes with CAM software and inspection equipment.

Behind Jason’s dedication and leadership, things have continued to flow smoothly at Douglas.

Logan Kenseth – February

Logan (above, upper middle) has always been a tremendous asset at Gray Manufacturing & Machine, but over the past two years, he’s added even more support to the operating company with his programming skills.

Whatever Gray’s new general manager Evan Grose needs, Logan is ready to program the machine and produce the part on time for the operating company’s customers.

Amanda Przybyszewski – March

Amanda (above, upper right) consistently earned high praise from her co-workers as Advanced’s office manager, beginning with her hiring in June 2020. She filled this position with skill and professionalism until she left the company in October 2023 in search of a different career opportunity. We wish her well.

Dennis Jenkins – April

Over the last two years, Dennis (bottom, lower left) has continued to mature as the shop manager at Tri-Tec. The operating company’s president Rick Loyd says he has gained even more respect from the Tri-Tec machinists in the shop.

Dennis has also expanded his drawing abilities by taking a class in solid works.

Auston Donaldson – May

Austin (bottom, lower middle) departed Quality Products to continue his career at Duff-Norton. Within the first 60 days of his new employment, Austin reached the top level of machinist pay at the company.

Unfortunately, Duff-North is closing its shop and relocating to Mexico. Austin is currently interviewing for a position at Siemens.

Kyle Vandermoon – June

Douglas Machining General Manager – Operations Ben Kubis referred to Kyle (bottom, lower right) as his “right-hand man.” Since becoming a Compass Employee of the Month, Kyle has stepped into more of a supervisor position.

In his new role, Kyle has been instrumental in keeping the company’s mills rolling throughout the day. He also helps mentor the operating company’s younger and less experienced machinists.
