Advanced Machining Office Manager Amanda Przybyszewski Becomes Compass Precision Employee of the Month

Compass Precision’s operating companies have never been slaves to the ordinary hiring processes. The hiring of Amanda Przybyszewski as office manager at Advanced Machining & Tooling in June 2020 is a perfect example of that.

After discovering through Indeed that Advanced had an opening, Amanda visited the Compass Precision operating company without notice on her lunch break. Her first interaction with Advanced Machining Operations Manager Pat Reynolds in the front lobby put her on the path to landing a job.

“You don’t look like you belong here,” said Amanda to Pat while he searched for something in the front office.

Pat immediately understood what she meant.

“Nope, I sure don’t,” he responded. “Do you want a job?”

“Yeah, [are] you hiring?”

Advanced Machining did hire Amanda. Now less than two years later, she has become the Compass Precision Employee of the Month for March 2022.

”From practically the first time meeting her, we knew she was a keeper,” stated Keith Felts, President of Advanced Machining. “She just jumped in and started learning and contributing immediately.”

With Amanda’s nomination, Compass is celebrating the two-year anniversary of its Employee of the Month program. She is the third employee to win the honor from Advanced Machining. CNC Machining/Programmer Zach Whitten was the most recent recipient of the honor from Advanced in April 2021.

”Amanda has proven to be a terrific addition,” explained Compass CEO Gary Holcomb. “We are very happy that she joined our team.”

Amanda graduated from UNC Charlotte with a finance degree concentrating in risk management and insurance. She says her original dream was to be a commercial insurance producer, but shortly after college, she learned the corporate environment, especially roles where she sat at a desk all day, was not the career path for her.

Before joining Advanced, Amanda held roles in office management at a variety of companies, including Aldi, Firefold and Kohl’s. When she visited Advanced, Amanda was working as an office coordinator at Gamewell Mechanical, but she described that position as not the best fit for her either.

However, Amanda has found her niche at Advanced Machining. She enjoys working for Advanced because of the individualism and tremendous responsibilities she has in her role.

“While there is definitely an element of sitting at a desk all day for 40 hours a week at Advanced, there’s a lot of people-to-people interaction,” Amanda said. “I still get to touch a lot of the parts that go out the door. I get to talk to customers and our vendors. I like being the smiling face that people see when they walk in.”

Close to entering her second year, Advanced is preparing to give Amanda even more responsibility. Her daily tasks already included entering invoices, shipping and packaging parts, helping fix time card punches, and all other items relating to accounting, HR and payroll. Next, she’s prepared to take on a bigger role in customer service and customer inquiries, as Advanced continues to grow.

While Amanda has earned the Compass Employee of the Month honor, she gave a lot of the credit to the Advanced team, especially President Keith Felts.

“I know I’m employee of the month, but really Compass Precision should make Keith the employee of the month,” Amanda said. “Keith has created such a harmonious work environment.

“This place is just special.”

Amanda has been married to her husband, Aaron, for 11 years. The couple have a 15-year-old son, Brian, and three rat terriers, Bobo, Cletus and Chubby.

For fun, the family travels on the weekend for Brian’s pickleball tournaments. Amanda says Brian started playing pickleball when other sports were canceled during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Amanda was born and raised in Fayetteville, NC, but growing up in an army family, she has lived in multiple places all across the United States. She now lives with her family in Landis, NC.
