Advanced Machining Quality Manager Jeff Geoghan Becomes Compass Precision Employee of the Month
Compass Precision possesses many unassuming employees throughout its company. No one may be more self-effacing than Advanced Machining & Tooling Quality Manager Jeff Geoghan.
But as anti-attention as he may be, Jeff is a very important part of the success at Advanced. In recognition of his many contributions, Compass Precision has named Jeff the company’s Employee of the Month for December.
“Jeff works hard to serve as customers’ eyes and ears in terms of quality for the precision parts we make,” explained Keith Felts, Advanced’s President. “Our customers could have no better gatekeeper than Jeff.”
Jeff started at Advanced working with wire EDM machines four years ago. Previously, he was employed at ECS Enterprises in a variety of roles, including quality manager. Advanced promoted Jeff to the same position in November 2019.
During Jeff’s first year as the Advanced quality manager, the company thrived. Sales grew significantly, several new pieces of equipment were added on the shop floor, and the company gained a major new customer.
But Jeff won’t take much credit for that success.
“I am not the one that puts quality into Advanced Machining,” he said. “It’s the team. I just make sure that we’re doing what the customer wants, but it’s the whole team that creates the quality here.”
As quality manager, Jeff inspects a lot of parts, products and materials throughout the day. He also maintains the Advanced’s ISO and AS certifications along with the company’s procedures.
“Some quality managers foster an antagonistic attitude toward other employees, especially those in production,” said Pat Reynolds, Operations Manager at Advanced. “But not Jeff. We are all working towards the same goal – to make nothing but good parts for our customers.”
In his free time, Jeff enjoys hiking, camping and spending time with his family. He and his wife moved together from Maryland to North Carolina more than a decade and a half ago. They have three children.
