Beth Whisnant Joins Compass Operating Company

Charlotte, NC – November 20, 2023 – Compass Precision, a Charlotte-based manufacturer of custom, close-tolerance metal components for mission critical applications, officially announced Monday that Advanced Machining has hired Beth Whisnant as the operating company’s new Office Manager.

“It’s been very interesting to see how this machine shop is working, the parts that are made, and the precision and the precise measures that they take,” said Beth.

“I enjoy learning something new, and I’m really enjoying being able to learn a whole new process from what I was doing previously.”

This role is Beth’s first office manager position, but she has 25 years of management experience from the banking industry.

She began her career working for a bank during college. Beth excelled, receiving promotions quickly and enjoyed a 20-year successful stint at Wells Fargo.

In 2019, Beth transitioned to a smaller, hometown bank – F&M Bank. The past two years, she worked in the Fraud & Risk Department, serving as Department Manager during the last three months.

Despite her success, she says it was time for a change.

“There was a lot of fraud and it just became a total downer on my life to see nothing but negatives,” Beth said. “So I was looking for something completely different, still wanting to work in an office environment, still wanting to work with employees and customers.”

Beth’s friend, Eric Barringer, who works at Advanced Machining, was aware of her situation and recommended her for the company’s open office manager role. She appears to have found a new place to thrive.

“When I switched from Wells, I enjoyed going to a smaller, hometown bank,” Beth said. “I still like that hometown environment here at Advanced Machining. Still feels like home. There are great people here that treat you like family.”

“We were really fortunate to find Beth so quickly,” explained Keith Felts, President of Advanced Machining. “Sometimes the best sources for new hires are referrals from current employees. We are really happy to have her on board.”

Beth’s first day was October 30. After three weeks with the company, she has learned invoicing, accounts payable and receivable and payroll. Once fully acclimated, Beth will perform all the office duties for the Compass operating company.

“Compass strives to hire the best employees possible,” said CEO Gary Holcomb. “Once we do, we work hard to make them successful. I am very confident Beth will do exactly that.”
