3 & 4-Axis Vertical Machining

Traditional 3 and 4-axis machining performed on vertical mills remains the most common method for creating flat surfaces on machined metal components. As with their more sophisticated 5-axis and horizontal machining center cousins, 3 and 4-axis vertical mills can be automated with multiple pallets and pallet changers for unattended, lights-out operation.

Compass Precision is well equipped with vertical machining centers (VMC). We have fifty-five 3 and 4-axis VMCs, most of which are Haas, Milltronics, or Mikron units. This equipment commonality promotes scheduling flexibility, eases training for new employees, and enhances our ability to maintain these mills (same spare parts, maintenance schedules and procedures, etc.).

Our largest VMC is a Haas VF-11 capable of handling parts up to 120 inches in length. We also have three Haas VF-7’s (one of which is brand new), two brand-new VF-6’s, a new VF-4, and various VF-3’s, VF-2’s and VF-1’s. In addition, we have numerous Milltronics VM6030, Milltronics VM5025, Mikron VCP1000, Mikron VCP600, and Fanuc robo drill machines.

We continue to add to our machining equipment base, including new VMCs, to take full advantage of higher speeds, greater automation, and increased quality offered in the latest CNC models.
